Kama Sutra – What does it teach us?

The perception of the Kama Sutra in the West is often one of distasteful behavior, but this is primarily due to misunderstanding & misinterpretation.

Giving and receiving love, through various channels , is truly one of the gifts of human life. It is our hope to help as many people experience a deeper intimate connection with themselves and their partners through sharing information online and offering direct coaching.

Below we explore how the Kama Sutra or the Essence of Love continues to be a helpful resource for individuals and couples to increase their knowledge and confidence in matters of intimacy and lovemaking.

The Kama Sutra is a condensed version (cliff notes, if  you will) of a larger anthology called the Kama Shastra or the Book of Love

The intention of the Kama Shastra (written 8th century BC), and later, the Kama Sutra (written 3rd century BC) was to educate young (mostly male) students in the Art of Love. Besides the Kama Shastra, these students studied from similar anthologies called Artha Shastra (the Book of Political Science), Dharma Shastra (the Book of Law & Morality) and Ayurveda (The Science of Life), among others.

Being skilled in choosing a life partner and maintaining a healthy conjugal life was considered a mark of success for young men, which is why the Kama Shastra & Kama Sutra have detailed explanation on these topics.

We hope this gives you a good introduction on what to expect from the Kama Sutra. In future  editions, we will go over :

  • The Kama Sutra’s recommendations on choosing a suitable life partner
  • The art of including amorous play in your intimate encounters
  • How to improve a weakened sexual drive

We will be exploring the Kama Sutra’s teachings in monthly emails. You can sign up to receive these helpful emails by clicking the button below.
