Q: What attracted you to your specialty?

A: When I got pregnant, I fell in love with learning about birth and postpartum. But what I realized I loved more was sharing that information with others. My friends started turning to me for resources and tips when they were pregnant. I felt that being this support was especially important because, having had a baby in the middle of a pandemic, I knew just how important it was to have people in your corner.

Q: What is the biggest misunderstanding about your specialty?

A: Probably that doulas only support unmedicated home births. As a birth and postpartum doula, I support families at every stage and regardless of where and how they give birth.

Q: What is one thing you wish people knew about your specialty?

A: I wish people knew the power of having unbiased support. Knowing that someone is there to support you and your choices no matter what can have a profound impact on your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

Q: What is one thing you always teach your clients?

A: Oh, this is hard. But I’d have to say – only you know what’s right for your body and family. I’m not there to support a birth plan, my ideals, or providers. I’m there to support YOU.

In Conclusion

Kellie Britch exemplifies the essence of unbiased support and dedication as a birth and postpartum doula. Her passion for empowering families through their unique journeys is truly inspiring. We are honored to feature her on Pelvic Soul and hope her story encourages you to seek the support you need for your own journey.
